The Hari Singapore to Replace Holiday Inn Orchard City Centre in 2027

A beloved Orchard Road landmark is making way for a luxury boutique hotel from the Harilela family’s acclaimed brand.

The Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre will close its doors for good, and in its place, The Hari Singapore—a 326-room luxury boutique property—is scheduled to open in spring 2027. It will become the third outpost of the Harilela Hotels portfolio, following successful launches in London’s Belgravia (2016) and Hong Kong’s Wan Chai (2020).

What to expect at The Hari Singapore

The revamped hotel will feature:

  • 326 guestrooms with sleek contemporary interiors
  • A rooftop swimming pool and executive lounge
  • Wellness facilities and new dining concepts
  • A rotating collection of contemporary artworks—a signature Hari touch that turns the hotel into a living gallery

British designer Tara Bernerd, who shaped the interiors of The Hari’s London and Hong Kong properties, will again helm the design. Her style blends modern sophistication with subtle nods to Singapore’s local character.

A family legacy meets global expansion

The Harilela Group, founded in 1959 and wholly owned by the Harilela family, operates 15 hotels across Hong Kong, China, Asia, Europe, and the United States. The Hari brand was born in London’s Belgravia in 2016, then expanded to Hong Kong in 2020. Singapore will mark the brand’s third address, reinforcing the family’s confidence in the city-state as a luxury travel hub.

Broader implications for Orchard Road

The closure of the Holiday Inn—a stalwart for decades—signals a shift in Orchard Road’s hospitality landscape toward upscale, design-led offerings. Travelers seeking a mid-range option will lose one of the area’s most convenient addresses, while luxury seekers gain a new art-infused retreat.
