Scoot Adds Guiyang, Boosts Asia-Pacific Flights for Peak Travel Season

Singapore’s low-cost carrier Scoot is expanding its footprint in China and across the Asia-Pacific region, announcing a new route to Guiyang and increased frequencies on several popular routes ahead of the year-end holiday rush.

Beginning October 26, 2026, Scoot will operate three weekly flights between Singapore and Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province in Southwest China. The service will run on the fuel-efficient Airbus A320neo, with one-way economy fares starting from $158 (including taxes). This addition expands Scoot’s mainland China network to 16 cities and 81 weekly flights, while bringing the airline’s total global reach to 86 destinations across 18 countries and territories, spanning the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, and Europe.

Guiyang offers travelers an alternative city break, surrounded by karst mountains, lush greenery, and a rich tapestry of ethnic minority cultures. Visitors can explore well-preserved historical sites such as Qingyan Ancient Town or venture to the Huangguoshu Waterfall, one of Asia’s largest waterfalls. The new route is expected to appeal to both leisure travelers seeking off-the-beaten-path experiences and business travelers connecting to a growing regional hub.

Frequency Boosts on Key Routes

Scoot is also ramping up services on several high-demand routes as part of its Northern Winter 2026/2027 schedule, which runs from October 25, 2026, to March 27, 2027. Starting in October, travelers will see increased weekly frequencies:

  • Hat Yai, Thailand: from 12 to 14 flights weekly
  • Phuket, Thailand: from 17 to 21 flights weekly
  • Okinawa, Japan: from 4 to 5 flights weekly

Further increases will roll out in the following months. From December 2026, Clark in the Philippines will rise from 7 to 10 weekly flights. In January 2027, Tiruchirappalli, India, will increase from 12 to 14 weekly flights, and Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, from 10 to 13 weekly flights. Additionally, Phu Quoc, Vietnam, will operate daily, with the route gradually transitioning from the Embraer E190-E2 to aircraft from the Airbus A320 family, offering more seats and greater efficiency.

Strategic Timing and Market Impact

The timeline aligns with the Northern Winter season, a period that typically sees a surge in travel demand due to holidays and cooler weather across the region. By expanding services now, Scoot is positioning itself to capture a larger share of the year-end travel market, particularly among budget-conscious travelers seeking more direct connections to secondary cities.

These moves reflect a broader trend among low-cost carriers to diversify networks beyond traditional hub-to-hub routes, tapping into underserved or niche destinations. Guiyang, for instance, has been gaining attention as an emerging tourist destination, with investments in infrastructure and ecotourism. Meanwhile, increased frequencies to established hubs like Phuket and Hat Yai cater to steady demand from Singaporean and regional travelers.

Travelers looking to book the new routes or take advantage of the enhanced schedules can find more details on the Scoot website. For those planning a trip to China this winter, Guiyang offers a rare blend of natural beauty and cultural immersion that stands apart from more frequented destinations.
