The Hari Singapore to Replace Holiday Inn on Orchard Road in 2027

A familiar landmark on Singapore’s shopping belt is making way for a luxury newcomer. The Holiday Inn Singapore Orchard City Centre will close permanently, with the Harilela Group converting the property into The Hari Singapore, a 326-room boutique hotel slated to open in spring 2027. The launch will mark the brand’s third outpost worldwide, following its existing addresses in London’s Belgravia and Hong Kong’s Wan Chai.

A third home for a global boutique brand

The Hari Singapore is the latest venture from the Harilela Group, a family-owned hospitality conglomerate founded in 1959. The company currently operates 15 hotels across Hong Kong, mainland China, the rest of Asia, Europe, and the United States. The Hari brand debuted in London in 2016 and expanded to Hong Kong in 2020; the Singapore property will bring the group’s signature blend of intimate luxury and contemporary design to Southeast Asia.

Design and amenities: What to expect

British designer Tara Bernerd—who also crafted the interiors of The Hari’s London and Hong Kong hotels—will once again oversee the Singapore project. Guests can anticipate sleek, modern interiors punctuated by subtle nods to local culture, though specific design details have yet to be revealed. The hotel will feature:

  • 326 guestrooms and suites
  • A rooftop swimming pool
  • An executive lounge and wellness facilities
  • New dining concepts
  • A rotating collection of contemporary artwork, transforming the property into a living gallery that changes regularly

Bernerd’s previous work for the brand has been praised for blending residential warmth with polished sophistication, a formula the Singapore iteration is expected to follow.

Broader impact and next steps

The conversion signals a growing appetite for boutique luxury in Singapore’s Orchard Road corridor, an area long dominated by large chain hotels and department stores. As travelers increasingly seek curated, design-forward experiences, The Hari’s arrival could spur similar repositioning among neighboring properties. For the Harilela Group, the move deepens its footprint in a key Asian market while extending The Hari’s reputation for art-infused hospitality.

No opening date beyond “spring 2027” has been announced. Those interested in following the project’s progress can visit The Hari’s official website for updates.
