For those who emerged from a screening of Sinners longing to dwell longer in Ryan Coogler’s haunting, blues-drenched world, that wish is about to come true. On September 5 and 6, Little Island Brewing Co. at Gillman Barracks will transform into 1932 Mississippi for Sinners: Live, arguably Singapore’s most ambitious immersive theatre production to date.
No Stage, No Curtain, No Phones – Just Story
Forget everything you think you know about traditional theatre. There will be no stage, no curtain call, and certainly no reminders to silence your mobile device—because your phone will already be sealed away before you enter. Instead, you’ll wander through a living, breathing world where every performer remains in character from the moment you arrive. Music doesn’t simply accompany the narrative here; it is the narrative.
Two Sides of the Same Night
The production unfolds across two simultaneous shows, forcing you to choose which side of the evening to experience. The Juke Joint transports you inside Smoke and Stack Moore’s bustling lumber mill, where opening-night celebrations pulse to Delta blues before events take a far darker turn. Alternatively, Remmick’s Story unfolds outdoors, following the enigmatic Remmick and his followers through a haunting evening of Irish folk songs, seduction, and an unsettling procession toward the juke joint.
Because both performances run concurrently, no two audiences will witness the same night. Every choice shapes your unique journey through this two-hour experience that weaves together Delta blues, West African rhythms, and Irish folk traditions. The production culminates in a powerful finale that reunites both audiences through gospel and spiritual music.
What to Expect
If you enjoy immersive productions where you’re more participant than spectator, this one is likely to hit all the right notes. Period dress is strongly encouraged—think crisp shirts, vintage dresses, worn leather shoes, and your finest Sunday best. Between scenes, you can tuck into Southern-inspired food and drinks served especially for the event.
Important details: Because the event takes place at a bar, it’s strictly for those aged 18 and above. While there are no jump scares, the show features blood, vampires, and supernatural themes that may not suit the faint-hearted.
Tickets and Access
Tickets start from $38 for students and those on restricted incomes, while general admission begins at $68, with VIP table experiences also available. Whether you’re a devoted Sinners fan, an immersive theatre enthusiast, or simply after a memorable night out, this is one experience you’ll want to sink your teeth into.
