If you left a screening of Sinners craving more time inside Ryan Coogler’s atmospheric, blues-drenched universe, a new live event in Singapore is offering exactly that. On September 5 and 6, the outdoor venue at Gillman Barracks will transform into a fully realised slice of Depression-era Mississippi—no stage, no curtain, and no phones allowed.
Sinners: Live isn’t your typical night out at the theatre. Organised by the team behind Little Island Brewing Co., this two-and-a-half-hour production ditches the proscenium arch in favour of total immersion. Guests wander through a living, breathing world where every performer remains in character from the moment you arrive. Music doesn’t just accompany the story—it is the story, weaving together Delta blues, West African rhythms, and Irish folk traditions into a single, haunting narrative.
Two Sides, One Night
The experience is split into two simultaneous productions, meaning no two audiences will witness the same evening. You’ll need to choose your path before you enter. Option one: The Juke Joint drops you inside Smoke and Stack Moore’s bustling lumber mill, where opening-night celebrations unfold to the sound of raw Delta blues—before events inevitably spiral into something darker. Option two: Remmick’s Story takes place outdoors, following the mysterious Remmick and his band of followers through eerie Irish folk songs, seduction, and an unsettling procession toward the juke joint.
Both performances run at the same time, so you’ll only experience half the story. The payoff? A powerful finale that reunites both audiences through gospel and spiritual music—a communal crescendo designed to leave chills.
Dress the Part, Taste the South
Period dress is strongly encouraged. Think crisp button-downs, vintage dresses, worn leather shoes—your finest Sunday best. Between scenes, attendees can tuck into Southern-inspired food and drinks served exclusively for the event. Because the venue is a bar, the show is strictly for ages 18 and above. While there are no jump scares, the production features blood, vampires, and supernatural themes that may not suit the faint-hearted.
