Behind the Counter: A Curator with Deep Roots
The store is the brainchild of Dexter Colt, a seasoned selector, budding producer, and label head whose musical palette spans deep, leftfield house, trippy techno, and dub-heavy sounds. With over a decade of experience behind turntables, Colt has cultivated a reputation for unearthing obscure records—a skill honed through early exposure to pirate radio and New York club legends. He is also a member of respected labels Darker Than Wax and Super Enjoy, and hosts a monthly show on Bristol-based Noods Radio.

The inventory at Lifted Trax reflects Colt’s wide-ranging tastes. Shoppers will find 12-inch records from artists like Mondo Grosso and Grand Agent, alongside soul and jazz LPs by icons such as Quincy Jones. The house section mixes classics from Masters At Work with Japanese acts like Crue-L Grand Orchestra and Eico. Other surprises include D.Diggler in the Techno & Electro section, Tokyo Ska Paradise under Broken Beat & Club Jazz, and rare gems from Sade.

For seasoned collectors looking to rehome preloved records, Lifted Trax is actively purchasing bulk collections across genres including house, deep house, techno, disco, boogie, UK garage, drum and bass, reggae, hip hop, jazz, ambient, new age, soul, and Asian rare groove. Singapore sellers with 60 records or fewer can submit a list of titles for review; larger collections can be assessed in person.
