A fresh destination for vinyl enthusiasts has arrived in Singapore. Lifted Trax, a brick-and-mortar record shop that also operates an online catalog, officially opened its doors on August 5 at 25 Lorong Telok. The store specializes in dance, electronic, jazz, soul, ambient, and other niche genres, offering both in-person crate-digging and a digital storefront for those who prefer to browse from home.
At the helm is Dexter Colt, a seasoned selector, budding producer, and label head whose musical tastes span deep, leftfield house, trippy techno, and dub-heavy frequencies. With more than a decade behind the decks, Colt has carved a reputation for unearthing obscure tracks—a skill shaped by his time listening to pirate radio and drawing inspiration from New York club legends. He’s also a member of the labels Darker Than Wax and Super Enjoy, and hosts a monthly show on Bristol-based Noods Radio.
The shop’s inventory is as eclectic as its founder. Across its shelves, you’ll find 12-inch records from Japanese artists like Mondo Grosso and Grand Agent, alongside soul and jazz LPs from icons such as Quincy Jones. A dedicated House section mixes classics from Masters At Work with Japanese acts including Crue-L Grand Orchestra and Eico. Surprises abound: D.Diggler pops up in the Techno & Electro section, Tokyo Ska Paradise appears under Broken Beat & Club Jazz, and rare Sade gems await discovery. The collection pulls from labels and artists spanning Singapore, Japan, and the United Kingdom.
For collectors looking to clear shelf space, Lifted Trax also buys preloved records. The shop is actively seeking bulk collections across genres such as house, deep house, techno, disco, boogie, UK garage, drum and bass, reggae, hip hop, jazz, ambient, new age, soul, and Asian rare groove. Sellers in Singapore with 60 records or fewer can submit a title list for review; larger collections can be assessed in person.
To mark its launch, Lifted Trax is planning a celebration party later this month, with details still to be announced. In the meantime, vinyl lovers can explore the store’s offerings both in-store and via its Instagram page.
