September has unofficially become panda month in Singapore, as River Wonders prepares to throw birthday parties for its resident giant pandas Jia Jia and Kai Kai—who turn 18 and 19, respectively—alongside the international debut of a cutting-edge panda-themed immersive exhibition.
The Panda Planet Immersive Experience runs from September 4 to 14, making its first stop outside China at River Wonders, in partnership with iPanda and Mandai Wildlife Group. Both parties take place at the Pavilion Capital Giant Panda Forest. The pandas’ care team has prepared ice cakes and treat-filled enrichment boxes designed to encourage natural foraging behaviors while keeping the birthday bears entertained.
For fans still nostalgic about Le Le, Singapore’s first locally born giant panda cub, the birthday zone will include updates on his journey since January 2024, when he joined the giant panda conservation program at the China Conservation and Research Centre for the Giant Panda. Le Le’s move marked a milestone in international breeding efforts.
