Elijah Pies Opens a Stunning Flagship in Joo Chiat, Complete with Pizza Pies and a Chocolate Soufflé

Singapore’s beloved homegrown pie brand, Elijah Pies, has unveiled its third and largest outlet at 72 Joo Chiat Place, transforming a restored 1930s Peranakan shophouse into a 60-seater destination. The new flagship, which opens September 12, marries the brand’s signature dessert pies with an expanded menu that includes Chicago-style pizza pies, creative mocktails, and even pup-friendly treats.

The brand, known for its artisanal dessert pies—particularly the wildly popular wild berry lavender pie—already operates locations at Tanjong Pagar Plaza and King George’s Avenue. But the Joo Chiat flagship marks a significant step up, both in scale and ambition.

Design Details Rooted in Heritage

Elijah Pies enlisted Nice Projects, the London- and Sydney-based design studio behind acclaimed spaces like Odette and New Bahru, to reimagine the shophouse. The team refreshed the original facade in the brand’s signature navy blue and laid 1,480 Italian-carved travertine tiles in a geometric pattern that subtly echoes Joo Chiat’s Peranakan heritage. A communal table for 10 anchors the interior, complete with a Lazy Susan for easy sharing, while a private dining room features a botanical backdrop designed by This Humid House—ideal for intimate celebrations.

New Menu Highlights

The flagship introduces several exclusive items that go beyond the brand’s pie roots.

Elijah’s Soufflé Pie ($?—made to order) is a centerpiece: a warm chocolate soufflé pie with a gianduja center, layered over almond joconde and hazelnut praline, topped with a handmade chocolate flower inspired by Peranakan tilework. It arrives piping hot from the oven.

Kaya Toffee Pie ($9) pays homage to the neighborhood with housemade pandan coconut jam and gula melaka toffee.

The biggest surprise? Pizza pies. Inspired by Chicago deep-dish pizza, these come in four flavors: Garlic Ebi ($22), Truffle Croque ($24), Cheeseburger ($23), and Ruffles ($23, sour cream and onion). The crust undergoes a three-day process, with dough folded into 27 alternating layers of French butter and flour.

Pup Pies ($9 each), created with pet bakery Petissier, cater to four-legged visitors. Flavors include wild berry lavender and Matchamisu, made with chicken breast, potato, Chinese yam, and coconut cream.

Creative Mocktails Steal the Show

A lineup of inventive non-alcoholic drinks joins the regular menu. Standouts include:

  • The 1930 ($13): A Nyonya-inspired blend of pandan-infused coconut water, butterfly pea and cloud foam diffusion, topped with clarified hazelnut milk.
  • Berry Bubble ($12): A twist on strawberry matcha, featuring cold-brew green tea with strawberry espuma and a strawberry leather roll-up.
  • Rolly Lolly ($13): Mango, grapefruit, and orange blossom, inspired by the owner’s childhood favorite fruit.
  • White Soirée ($12): White tea, sauvignon blanc grapes, and non-alcoholic Prosecco.

What to Order

For first-timers or returning fans, the chocolate soufflé pie and pizza pies are the most distinctive draws—especially for groups who can share all four pizza pie flavors.

Elijah Pies opens September 12 at 72 Joo Chiat Place. With its heritage-conscious design, inventive menu, and pet-friendly offerings, the flagship positions itself as a new anchor for the neighborhood’s burgeoning food scene.
