Chagee Opens Family-Friendly Tea Haven in Pasir Ris with Indoor Playground

Singapore’s eastern suburb of Pasir Ris has been quietly transforming, with a new integrated transport hub, upgraded shopping options and neighbourhood-wide revitalisation drawing more residents and visitors. Now, tea chain Chagee has added another reason to linger: a family-focused outlet with a dedicated indoor playground, marking the brand’s first heartland location outside the city centre.

The new store, which opened at Pasir Ris Mall, builds on Chagee’s family-friendly concept first introduced at Suntec City. Here, parents can sip signature drinks like the Bo·Ya jasmine green milk tea while children explore a custom-designed play area complete with climbing walls, slides and interactive games. The space aims to turn a quick tea run into a relaxed family outing, eliminating the usual rush to finish and leave.

A Play Space Built for Little Ones

The indoor playground caters to young adventurers with a mini climbing wall, a slide and padded flooring to soften inevitable tumbles. An interactive game wall, a rocking Chagee pony mascot, and a pretend tea-making station stocked with toy dispensers, teapots and cups encourage imaginative play. For quieter moments, books are available for little readers, while suspended puffy clouds add a whimsical, storybook atmosphere.

The family-first approach extends beyond the playground. Children under 12 receive complimentary milk with every beverage order. Most of Chagee’s menu items carry a Nutri-Grade A or B rating, meaning families can enjoy a tea break without the sugar overload. A Singapore-exclusive pony plushie charm is also available for $16.90.

A Nod to Local Heritage

Chagee has made a deliberate effort to root the Pasir Ris outlet in its surroundings. A six-metre hand-painted mural titled Memories of Pasir Ris, created by artist Rebecca Liu Xibei, traces the area’s history from mangrove swamps to beloved neighbourhood landmarks, including the iconic Mosaic Elephant Playground. The artwork offers a nostalgic touch for long-time residents and a conversation starter for newcomers.

Brewing Up New Opportunities

While the playground grabs attention, a significant development is happening behind the counter. Chagee has partnered with the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) to create what it describes as Singapore’s first tea beverage qualification developed jointly by an Institute of Higher Learning and an industry partner.

The programme runs on two tracks. First-year Higher Nitec in Hospitality Operations students will take a tea beverage micro-learning course as part of their existing Barista Service module. Simultaneously, Chagee baristas will undergo a specially curated course combined with hands-on training at the company’s training centre. Those who complete the full programme will receive an ITE Certificate of Achievement—a credential that could open doors in Singapore’s growing specialty beverage sector.

The Bottom Line

Chagee Pasir Ris positions itself as more than a tea shop; it’s a community anchor designed for families who want to linger. With a playground that entertains, a menu mindful of nutrition, and a space that honours local history, the outlet offers a compelling reason for eastern Singaporeans to make this their regular pit stop. For parents in search of a kid-friendly café that doesn’t compromise on drink quality or ambiance, this heartland addition delivers.
