The cocktail capital of Asia has proven its staying power once again. Following the inclusion of newcomer Offtrack in the extended 51-100 list, Singapore’s main showing on The World’s 50 Best Bars for 2026 features two long-standing favorites. Jigger & Pony slid into 18th place and Nutmeg & Clove jumped to 38th, cementing the city-state’s status as a global nightlife powerhouse alongside Tokyo.
The Standout Performers
Jigger & Pony may have slipped from its 9th-place finish in 2025, but the Amara Singapore mainstay remains a beacon of sophisticated Asian mixology. Famous for its elaborate “menuzines”—immersive cocktail menus that read like glossy art magazines—the bar blends storytelling with precise execution. Patrons rave over the Smoky Singapore Sling, a tangy, aromatic reimagining of the classic using lapsang souchong tea and rhubarb.
Meanwhile, Nutmeg & Clove on Purvis Street is celebrating a remarkable 12-spot climb from 50th to 38th place. The bar’s success lies in its singular focus on Singaporean heritage. Its latest menu, Singapura, Oh Singapura, is a comic-book-inspired lineup of 12 drinks named after local Singlish phrases like “Jialat” and “Die Die Must Try.” Highlights include the “Alamak,” a fruity riff on the Singapore Sling with Roku gin, soursop, and passionfruit, and a decadent Espresso Martini finished with edible gold.
Asia on the Global Stage
On the continental stage, Singapore ties with Tokyo for the second-most bars in the top 50 (two each). Bangkok leads Southeast Asia with three entries, while Seoul’s Zest makes a strong showing at number 7. Globally, Hong Kong dominates Asia with four entries, and its Roman-inspired tavern Bar Leone clinched the number one spot for the second consecutive year, a historic first for any Asian bar.
The 2026 edition is a diverse list of 50 venues from 26 cities, including 14 first-time entries. Paris, New York, and Hong Kong tied for the most appearances with four bars each.
How the Rankings Work
The annual list, published by William Reed since 2009, is created by an anonymous academy of over 800 drinks experts from 29 regions. Bartenders, consultants, and writers cast eight votes each based on their working knowledge of the best bar experiences over the preceding 18 months. The ranking has expanded regionally in recent years, launching Asia’s edition in 2016 and Europe’s just last year.
This recognition underscores the growing depth of Singapore’s bar scene, where heritage and innovation go hand in hand. To see the full ranking and discover the world’s top drinking destinations, search for the full 1-50 list on The 50 Best website.
